Maytag wall ovens come as 30-inch single, double and microwave-combination units. A combination oven has one smaller and one larger cavity, and the lower cavity reports its own codes.
Air fry is on every wall oven type
Maytag offers No-Preheat Air Fry on its single, combination and double wall ovens, with a basket sized for a standard sheet pan. Air fry leans on the convection fan, so a weak fan tends to show up first as uneven or soft results.
A third element for convection
Maytag's True Convection adds a third heating element behind the fan. When baking turns uneven, that element and the fan motor get checked alongside the temperature sensor.
Two cavities, two sets of codes
On double and combination models Maytag gives the lower oven its own codes, such as F5 E3 for the lower door latch. The code tells the technician which door or cavity to open first.
Messages that are not failures
Maytag documents Sabbath Mode, which can show as Sab or 5Ab and silences the oven, and a store Demo Mode that keeps the elements off. Both can look like a broken oven when they are just settings.
Parts
Sensors, door latches, convection fans and elements for Maytag wall ovens are common parts and usually quick to source. Control boards for touch-menu models can take longer.
Repair or replace
Maytag wall ovens are built-in units, so repairing a sensor, latch, element or fan is usually the better choice. Where the main control has failed on an older oven, weighing a replacement is reasonable.
