Bosch ovens,
specifically.

Bosch sells built-in single, double and combination wall ovens, a steam convection oven and 800 Series speed ovens. Its owner-support page explains one oven code in detail, E11 for the touch keys, and treats any other E and a number as a signal to note the code and book service.

The Bosch lineup

What is particular
to Bosch.

Bosch builds single, double and combination ovens, the HSLP451UC steam convection oven and 800 Series speed ovens that pair convection with microwave. The steam oven brings a water tank and descaling, and the speed oven brings microwave parts, so the model family decides the first checks.

E11 is about the touch keys

Bosch ties E11 to touch keys that stop operating properly, often from condensation on the keypad. Wiping the panel dry and cutting power for about 10 seconds are the owner steps before a visit.

No distilled water in the steam oven

The steam convection oven takes fresh tap water or plain noncarbonated bottled water. Bosch warns that distilled water or other liquids can damage it.

Softened water can skip descaling

Unless you use softened water, the steam oven needs descaling at regular intervals, and with softened water it does not. The water hardness setting has to be reset if you move or change water source.

The speed oven steps down its power

If a Bosch speed oven is set to 100 percent microwave power for more than 30 minutes, it lowers itself to 80 percent to avoid overcooking. Food that finishes slower on long programs may simply reflect that.

Parts

Common parts such as elements, sensors, door locks and control modules are ordered by the full model number. Steam oven and speed oven parts are more specific and may take longer to source.

Repair or replace

A lock, sensor or element repair is usually worth doing on a Bosch wall oven that is otherwise sound. Replacement makes sense to compare when a combination unit needs major parts in both sections.

Questions about
Bosch ovens.

My Bosch oven shows E and a number other than E11. What should I do?
Bosch's owner page asks you to note the code, switch off the oven's power at the breaker or fuse and book a visit. Only E11 comes with steps you can try yourself.
Do I have to descale my Bosch steam oven?
Only if you use unsoftened water. Enter your water hardness when the oven is installed; the oven then tells you when descaling is due, and it takes more than one cycle to finish.
Why does my Bosch speed oven cook slower after half an hour on full power?
It is designed to. After 30 minutes at 100 percent microwave power, the oven drops to 80 percent to avoid overcooking.
