What Bal Harbour does
to an oven.

Planners Harland Bartholomew & Associates were brought in during the 1930s to design it.

The first home went up at 160 Bal Cross Drive, built by Robert C. Graham Jr., son of the village's developer.

Its beach was renovated in 1959 because of severe erosion, and a major replenishment project began in 1971.

Tower living

Heat and smoke from an oven's self-clean cycle can set off a tower's smoke detectors and draw building staff, so many condo owners avoid it or run it only with the kitchen ventilated. A lock that sticks after that cycle is one of the common calls here.

On the water

Salt air works its way into a wall oven's touch panel, door lock switches and wiring connectors, and corrosion there can cause ghost presses, errors or a lock that will not release. The main board is often fine once the connections are cleaned or replaced.

Seasonal houses

Mice sometimes nest in the insulation around an oven in a closed house and chew its wiring, so an oven that will not heat after a long absence gets its wiring and insulation checked first.
