What we do

# Oven repair, job by job.

Ten repairs we take on. Every repair has a page of its own: what the job involves, where it falls on the cost scale, and when an older oven stops being worth the outlay.

Familiar brands. Expert care.

## For the brands in your kitchen.

Independent repair service. Not affiliated with, authorized or endorsed by any manufacturer. Brand names and model numbers are the property of their respective owners and are used here for identification only, to describe the appliances we service.

## The work itself

In the order it gets done: the cheapest cause first, and the expensive answer at the bottom where it usually belongs.

Diagnostic fee

### Diagnostic visit

One visit that turns a cold cavity, a wrong temperature, a locked door or a dead panel into one named part and a price.

Cost: low

### Bake and broil element repair

An electric oven that stays cold, bakes only from above or will not broil, traced to the element, its terminals or the relay that feeds it.

Cost: low

### Gas igniter and burner repair

A gas wall oven that clicks, glows or smells of gas without lighting, traced to the igniter, the safety valve or the burner itself.

Cost: low

### Temperature sensor and calibration

Baking that comes out burnt or pale at the usual setting, traced to the sensor, its wiring or an oven that simply needs calibrating.

Cost: low to moderate

### Convection fan and motor repair

A convection setting that bakes like a still oven, rattles or squeals, traced to the fan blade, its motor or the ring element behind it.

Cost: lowest

### Door hinge and gasket repair

A door that drops open, hangs crooked, leaks heat around its edges or has cracked glass, set right with new hinges, a gasket or a pane.

Cost: low to moderate

### Door lock and self-clean repair

A door that stays locked after self-clean, a cycle that will not start or stops early, traced to the lock motor, its switches or the cleaning heat.

Cost: moderate to highest

### Controls and sensors

Dead keys, a blank or garbled display, an oven that will not switch off or will not respond, traced to the board, the touch panel or their wiring.

Cost: moderate

### Steam system repair

A steam or combi-steam oven that makes no steam, weak steam or asks for water it already has, traced to scale, the pump, the generator or the tank sensor.

Cost: low

### Cooling fan and thermal fuse repair

An oven that shuts off mid-bake, goes completely dead, runs a noisy fan or overheats its controls, traced to the cooling fan or a tripped thermal fuse.

Before you book

### What each of these usually costs

Bands rather than prices, because nobody can quote a figure before the oven has been looked at — and the diagnostic visit that decides it, set against the repair.

## What a repair usually costs.

A useful test: compare the repair with the cost of a new oven that fits the same cabinet cutout, not just any oven. Wall oven openings differ between makes and generations, and a new unit that does not match can bring carpentry and trim work with it. That hidden cost is why most repairs on a built-in oven are worth doing, and why replacement usually makes sense only when a board is no longer made or the cavity has rusted.

[Diagnostic visit](https://ovenrepair.center/services/diagnostic-visit/): An oven is priced after it has been seen heating.

| Repair | Relative cost | Notes |
| --- | --- | --- |
| [Door hinges, gasket or door glass](https://ovenrepair.center/services/door-hinge-and-gasket-repair/) | lowest | A pair of hinges or a new gasket is a short job at the bottom of the scale. A replacement glass pane sits a little higher, since the door is taken apart and rebuilt around it. |
| [Bake or broil element](https://ovenrepair.center/services/bake-and-broil-element-repair/) | low | The single most common oven part. A hidden bake element under the floor panel takes longer to reach, and any scorched terminal behind it is replaced at the same time. |
| [Gas igniter, safety valve or burner](https://ovenrepair.center/services/gas-igniter-and-burner-repair/) | low | A weak igniter is a small part and ends most gas ovens that will not light. The safety valve costs more, and every fitting opened is leak-tested before the visit ends. |
| [Temperature sensor or calibration](https://ovenrepair.center/services/temperature-sensor-and-calibration/) | low | Calibration alone needs no part at all. A new sensor is inexpensive and quick to fit from inside the cavity on most wall ovens. |
| [Cooling fan or thermal fuse](https://ovenrepair.center/services/cooling-fan-and-thermal-fuse-repair/) | low | The fuse itself is small; the time goes into finding why the oven overheated, which often means sliding it out of the cabinet to reach the fan on top. |
| [Convection fan motor, blade or ring element](https://ovenrepair.center/services/convection-fan-and-motor-repair/) | low to moderate | A blade or a ring element stays near the low end. A motor for a premium convection oven, reached through the rear wall or the back of the unit, moves the job toward the middle. |
| [Door lock motor and switches](https://ovenrepair.center/services/door-lock-and-self-clean-repair/) | low to moderate | The latch assembly is a mid-priced part. Where the self-clean heat also damaged the sensor, the wiring or the fan, those are priced as separate items before any work begins. |
| [Steam generator, pump or tank sensor](https://ovenrepair.center/services/steam-system-repair/) | moderate | Descaling is the cheapest outcome. A pump or a sensor is modest, while a new steam generator from a premium maker lifts the job into the middle of the scale. |
| [Control board or touch panel](https://ovenrepair.center/services/controls-and-sensors/) | moderate to highest | A keypad or ribbon cable sits in the middle. A full control board, especially on a double or premium built-in oven, is among the costliest parts an oven takes. |

## Questions about the work.

### Which repair do I book if I cannot tell what broke?

The diagnostic visit is the one to pick. Describe what the oven does, and the technician works out which of these repairs it needs before anything is ordered or priced.

### If my oven needs two repairs, can they be done on one visit?

Yes, and on an oven they often travel together: a door that no longer seals tires the bake element and can overheat the controls, and a cooling fan that stops can take a thermal fuse with it. Each repair is priced on its own, and you approve each one.

### Why do the repairs have no prices beside them?

Because one repair can be quick on a single wall oven that slides out easily and slow on a double oven that has to come out of a tall cabinet. The cost page ranks each job in a band against the rest, and yours is priced once the diagnosis is done.

### Will the technician have the part on the first visit?

Bake elements, igniters and temperature sensors are usually on board, and a model number given at booking raises the odds. A control board, a door lock assembly or a part for a less common make is ordered after the diagnosis confirms it, which means a return trip to fit it.
