A wall oven door hangs on two hinges with strong springs that hold it closed against the gasket. Those hinges carry the weight of heavy glass every time the door is opened, and a door that was leaned on or used as a shelf takes more than its share. When a hinge wears or one side slips out of its slot, the door no longer meets the gasket evenly. The result is lost heat, a hot front and handle, and uneven baking, and on some models the oven will not start a cycle at all.
