# Oven repair in Los Altos Hills.

Los Altos Hills requires every newly built house, detached accessory dwelling unit and other detached habitable structure to be an all-electric building.

## What Los Altos Hills does to an oven.

The town adopted its first all-electric rules for new homes in the 2019 code cycle and re-adopted them effective January 1, 2023.

Ordinance 611, passed in February 2024, extended the rules to substantial remodels and recast them as zero-NOx requirements to avoid the conflicts raised in Berkeley's court case.

Where indoor gas cooking is allowed as an exception, plans must show a labeled circuit, a reserved breaker and a receptacle or junction box within five feet so an electric cooking appliance can be installed later.

### Gated communities

The ovens in these houses are usually premium models with their own parts and diagnostic tools, so the repair plans for the exact model before the visit rather than improvising on site.

### Specified kitchens

A designed kitchen often stacks a wall oven, a steam oven and a speed oven into one column of matched units, and a repair on one must not disturb the finish or alignment of the others.

### Family houses

Suburban kitchens often have a double wall oven, and busy households tend to use the lower cavity for everyday cooking, so its elements and sensor wear first.
