# Installation and setup guides.

The cabinet cutout, the circuit and the junction box, the gas connection, the water line for a steam oven, and the airflow a built-in oven needs.

## Installation and setup, guide by guide.

These guides cover what a built-in oven needs from the house before it ever heats: an opening cut to the maker's figures, a floor under it strong enough to carry it, a circuit sized to its rating plate, and for a gas model, a connection that was leak-tested the day it went in. They are written for owners planning a remodel, replacing an oven that has reached its end, or trying to work out why a newer oven never quite fit.

## Built in to last.

A lot of oven trouble can be traced to the day the oven was installed. A junction box that stops the oven sitting flush, a circuit left over from a smaller model, a reused gas connector or a cabinet that cannot take the heat will outlast the installer's visit by years, and they are far easier to get right before the oven goes in than to fix once it is in the wall.

Measuring and reading the installation sheet are owner's work, and these guides show how. Cutting cabinets, wiring the junction box and anything touching gas are not; each guide marks where that line falls.

### The short answer Wall Oven Cutouts: The Measurements That Decide the Fit

A wall oven cutout is the opening in the cabinet that the oven slides into, and the maker's installation sheet sets its width, height and depth to within fractions of an inch.

### The short answer The Circuit Behind an Electric Wall Oven

The wall oven electrical requirements in GE's installation sheet are a single-phase 120/240 or 120/208-volt supply on a dedicated, grounded branch circuit, sized from the kilowatt rating on the oven's plate, usually 30, 40 or 50 amps.

### The short answer How a Gas Wall Oven Is Connected, and Who Should Do It

A gas wall oven connection runs from the house gas line through a shutoff valve and a new approved flexible connector or rigid pipe to the pressure regulator at the back of the oven.

## Questions about installation and setup.

### Where do the measurements in these guides come from?

From manufacturers' published installation instructions, cited beside each figure. Makers differ, so the sheet for your exact model always has the final word.

### Can I install a wall oven myself?

Measuring and checking the opening, yes. The electrical connection is for a qualified electrician, any gas connection is for a qualified gas installer or the utility, and lifting the oven into its opening takes two people.

### Do these guides cover steam and speed ovens too?

The principles do: a cutout sheet, a dedicated supply and room for the air to move. Their sizes and supply needs differ from a standard wall oven, so check each model's own installation instructions.

## The other sections.

Split by what you are trying to find out rather than by which part of the appliance it concerns.
