Smeg's US self-clean ovens, such as the SOPU3104TPG and SOPU3304TPX, print one numbered message in their manual, Error 4 for the self-clean door lock, and send every other complaint back to a setting. A visit starts by checking Show Room and Demo Mode, Controls lock and the lock state, the three things Smeg's own list names. The Smeg lineup ### Builds 3 oven types Single wall oven · Steam oven · Speed oven ### Called out for Oven Not Heating and 4 more problems on Smeg ### Repairs we do 10 repairs, on any make Diagnostic visit · Bake and broil element repair · Gas igniter and burner repair · Temperature sensor and calibration ### Error codes Error 4 · Show Room 2 Smeg codes with a page of their own ## The Smeg lineup. Smeg builds 3 of the 4 oven types this site covers. Which one decides how the visit is planned. This page draws on Smeg's US manuals for the SOPU3104TPG and SOPU3304TPX self-clean ovens (91477B177) and the SOCU3304SCX combi-steam oven (91477B228). Other Smeg lines, such as the SOU models, have their own manuals. ### Error 4 is the door lock Smeg uses Error 4 for a door lock malfunction during SELF CLEAN. While the lock device is engaged, no other function can be selected. ### Two showroom settings Show Room switches off every heating element and keeps the panel alive; Demo Mode does the same and plays screens after a spell of inactivity. Smeg names both first when an oven does not heat. ### A lock lever you should not touch Smeg ovens have a door lock lever under the control panel, and Smeg warns never to release it by hand during self-clean because the lock and the door glass can be damaged. ### Combi-steam ovens insist on descaling On combi-steam models such as the SOCU3304SCX, the display asks for descaling from time to time, and after the next warning the oven will not run any other function until it is done. Parts Smeg parts are identified from the model and serial number on the rating plate. Availability in the US was not confirmed on a Smeg source. Repair or replace A showroom setting, a locked control panel or a pending descale are settled without parts. A recurring Error 4 on a self-clean oven is worth repairing before replacing an oven chosen to match a Smeg design line. Book your Smeg visit ## What we are called out for. What should I do? Turn the oven off and on again. If the door lock still misbehaves, leave the lock lever alone and book a visit. ### Why does my Smeg oven light up but stay cold? Smeg's first check is Show Room or Demo Mode, both of which switch the heating off. Turn them off in the settings menu. ### My Smeg combi-steam oven will only let me descale. Is it broken? No. After the descaling warning is ignored, Smeg blocks other functions until the descaling process has been run. ### The controls on my Smeg oven do nothing. What is the first check? Smeg suggests checking whether Controls lock has been set in the settings menu. --- **[Read on the site: Smeg Oven Repair | OvenRepair.center](https://ovenrepair.center/brands/smeg/)** **[Book a visit with OvenRepair.center](https://ovenrepair.center/schedule/)**
