Kenmore and Kenmore Elite wall ovens span self-cleaning and manual-cleaning models; the three-digit prefix of the model number ties each one to its own parts and code tables. Knowing that prefix before a visit means the right parts list is checked. ### The model prefix decides the code list Kenmore's parts site publishes separate code tables for 665 wall ovens and for 790 manual-clean wall ovens. F1, for example, is a control problem on a 665 but a sensor-or-board problem on a 790. ### Overheat codes on 665 models The 665 table has two overheat codes: F3/E2 for more than 575°F in Bake and F3/E3 for more than 950°F in self-clean. Either one means the oven should stay switched off until it is checked. ### Door and latch are two separate signals On 665 ovens F5/E0 appears when the door switch says open while the latch says locked. Checking whether the oven light follows the door is a quick clue about the switch. ### Manual-clean 790 models have a short list The 790 manual-cleaning wall ovens document only a couple of codes, both around the temperature sensor and control board, since there is no self-clean latch to report on. Parts Sensors, latches and elements for common Kenmore wall oven families are usually still available once the full model number is known. Older control boards can be harder to find. Repair or replace A sensor, latch or element repair on a Kenmore wall oven is usually worth it. It is the first three digits of the model number on the rating label, often seen with the door open. Codes on a 665 oven follow a different table from a 790. ### My Kenmore showed F3/E2. What should I do? Switch it off at the breaker and keep it off. On 665 models the code means the oven went above 575°F in Bake, and it needs checking before the next use. ### Does a Kenmore F5 code always mean a new lock? No. On 665 ovens F5/E0 can come from the door switch, and F5/E1 from the lock assembly or its wiring.
